2008 – It’s Mayoff Day in Texas!

Sung to the the tune of “Yellow Rose of Texas”
Lyrics by Doug Frazier

Oh, June is fast approaching, the end of May is here.
That festive celebration we all enjoy is near.
We celebrate in springtime, when flowers brightly say,
“the world is in its splendor, prepared for Mayoff Day!’

It’s the finest family holiday to rally friends and kin;
The perfect mix of people, with chocolate blended in .
You may celebrate St. Paddy’s, on New Year’s you may play,
But nothing can compare with this, our favorite: Mayoff Day!

In the hot tub, conversation, beneath the starry skies.
In the kitchen, finely crafted aromas mix and rise.
And those we haven’t seen for long come up and bid us well,
We talk about old times and friends, old stories we do tell.

It’s the finest family holiday to rally friends and kin;
The perfect mix of people, with chocolate blended in .
You may celebrate St. Paddy’s, on New Year’s you may play,
But nothing can compare with this, our favorite: Mayoff Day!

Enjoy it for the moment, remember why you’re here,
And give a hug to Bernie, Denise and all so dear,
And when you wake, tomorrow, promise yourself and say,
“I’ll welcome every morning as if it’s Mayoff Day!”

It’s the finest family holiday to rally friends and kin;
The perfect mix of people, with chocolate blended in .
You may celebrate St. Paddy’s, on New Year’s you may play,
But nothing can compare with this, our favorite: Mayoff Day!
